You stirred up quite the hornet's nest didn't you? Judging by some of the pushback you are getting as I skim through the comments section ... few things quite as triggering to some folk as the words "Trump is innocent." Well, as one comment noted, and I will ditto, you are incorrect in a very (and dare I say bigly?) way: Trump is "innocent until proven guilty." It is not mere semantics. It is a quite different statement and important to note.
But regardless, even if you had stated it properly, the hornets would still be buzzing. I applaud you daring to poke the nest.
In purely philosophical terms, thinking back to my good ole days in college, sitting in a classroom and having discussions about law and the judicial system, you are absolutely 100% correct. However, in the world of realpolitik you are absolutely 100% wrong. The problem is that you cannot bring a wiffle ball to a knife fight. (Hint: liberals in the past have been the ones playing with the wiffle ball, all flowers and sunshine and smelling the pretty flowers in a park while MAGA has had knives … and pepper spray and baseball bats and … well etc.).
If liberals have done anything wrong since around 2015, it is to be too nice … and too naive … thinking the “good guys” win in the end and that “justice” prevails. No, not really. Trump has taken advantage of “nice” people his whole life. Time to cut him down to size, fit him for an orange jumpsuit and lock his ass in jail. I do not apologize for saying that, since he is guilty of a multitude of crimes. A great deal of evidence is public record, I can read, I have been on a jury before, and I know what “beyond a reasonable doubt” means. Everyone (other than MAGA people) know that he is guilty of multiple crimes. Sure, he will get his day in court (well multiple days in multiple courts) and if he manages to hire half-way good lawyers (very unlikely) maybe they can beat the wrap and game the system which is what lawyers are paid to do. We shall see.
Our democracy has already been trashed by MAGA. The judicial system has already been corrupted by MAGA. Anyone still wants to play with wiffle balls …? Sorry. I’ll be too busy out in the street chanting “lock his ass up!”
That is what you do, because that is what democracy demands you do. Just as in Russia, some brave people tried to be out in the street shouting against the crimes of Putin. Or people in Israel nearly rioting to protect their judicial system from Netanyahu. It is not “bad behavior.” It is necessary to keep a democracy a democracy.
