Yes I do understand not wanting to be the party pooper, not wanting to "rain on the parade" the phrase that was in my mind stopping me from writing about this.

But .... "symbolism" .... that is the crux here. As a bigger and broader issue in all of American politics, on all issues and not just LGBTQ issues. There is lots of symbolism going around. There are lots of politicians whose stock and trade is symbolism. Symbolism takes no work, no effort, no hammering out of the nitty gritty of rules, regulations, policy, and programs. We could find ourselves standing on a big shiny pile of fantastically beautiful symbolism ... while the world is collapsing and burning down all around us.

How's that for party pooper? sigh

That might be the next thing I write about (maybe) is the issue of symbolism. Write about how people and particularly politicians need to get off their symbolic asses and cut the symbolic crap and start doing the hard work of actual action.

But in the meantime.... yes, I can be AND AM happy that a majority of Americans are on our side, even if they are on our side sitting on symbolic couches on their symbolic asses and more interested in Harry and Meghan on Netflix.
