Wish I could give this more than 50 claps. Bisexual myself, that line about "Unsafe is worrying about the wrong person discovering my writing...." Hit home to me.

Someone did "discover my writing" and they summarily exited my life.

I'm "out" here on Medium. I am out to a couple of family members but will never be out to other family members. And the community in which I live... well, I'm "out" during the month of Pride by showing up at certain events and I do occasionally wear a bit of jewelry (rainbow-colored earrings and such) that observant people might put 2 and 2 together on... but still... I have to lay low in other ways with other people in this ultra-conservative area in which I live.

It is tiring. And it doesn't have to be this way. Except that certain people in our society make it be this way.
