To me, rather than looking upon it as a "hilarious game of religious hopscotch," I feel as though there is a spirituality renaissance underway. That is my personal bias, though, I suppose. I have long frowned in general upon dogmatism and churches as institutions. I think it is a good thing that individuals are recognizing their own internal spiritual power and authority, and are more open to learn and explore. In particular learn about and explore alternative paths and beliefs which had been marginalized and suppressed by institutionalized mainstream Christian religion (particularly by the Catholic Church, my personal enemy #1, for personal reasons)
Far from being alarmed--as some are--I am encouraged by the growing recognition of personal spiritual power and agency. But again, that is my personal bias as the tenet of my spiritual realm is: As above, so below. ;-)
