Thank you for posting. I heard similar stories to what you tell in regard to Rhodes, that he began with the best of intentions. Well, unfortunately, the old saying often proves true: The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I myself am registered as an Independent. I do have issues with the Democratic Party, though I do not think them detestable, just, well, sometimes excessively good intentioned and thus failing to see the unintended harmful consequences of some of their economic policy ideas. But that is neither here nor there.

Right now, for me, the truly "bad intentions" of the far right really suck all the oxygen out of the room and have caused me to settle into the full-time job of calling out their extremism. I look forward to the day when I can once again turn my attention back to the other side to criticize them once in a while, but for now, I think all who actually do value personal liberty -- as I have no doubt you do -- have to rally together to stop "good-intentioned" autocratic plans of the far right, as those pose the greatest immediate threat to liberty. Let us all rally together to deal with that first. Then, later, we can deal with pie-in-the-sky economics of liberals.
