Normally -- in a "normal" world -- I might agree with you that Biden would face a difficult path to reelection for a number of reasons. But the Republicans, in my opinion, still cannot get out of their own way. As near as I can tell, the GOP legislative agenda in the House is to nail Hunter Biden and to bring impeachment charges against Joe Biden. Okay. And ....? Well. That seems to be it. Oh, and a proposal to audit and possibly yank money from Ukraine.

So, sort of by default, the Executive branch is going to be left to go it alone with Executive orders to do things that may need to be done.

I suppose the one interesting thing to watch will be the moderate Republicans in the House who won their seats in Democratic leaning districts. They are 1) reasonable people and 2) would like to win reelection in 2024. Biden would certainly work with and cut deals with them IF they present that opportunity to him.

As far as the American people are concerned, the GOP now "controls" the House. The ball is therefore in their court. They will get the blame -- not Biden -- if things go south while they are busy with Hunter. If somebody in the GOP could find a fire extinguisher to put out their fires, maybe they could get some positive credit. I'm not holding my breath.

Just my two cents. But I appreciate your comments and analysis. Since, as I said, in a "normal" world I might otherwise agree with some of your points.

(Footnote: would agree with you except preferring Trump to Biden. I like some things Biden has done, I have been irritated and angered by some things Biden has done. But at least Biden did not attempt an insurrection, attempt voter fraud in Georgia, steal government documents, and commit tax and insurance fraud. Pass on Trump.)
