In point of fact, there are actually about half a million things (give or take) at any particular moment on my mind (autism) and I generally focus on what is directly in front of me (autism). So neither element of your postulate applies to me.
Aside from autism though, it is true that everyone has a bias, an interest, a perspective, and a focus. I think those who focus upon the issue of racism have particularly taken to heart the words of Churchill: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
A lot of very bad history is currently "repeating" right now, and that is no optical illusion.
