I'm taking the unusual step of commenting on my own article, just to add a point of general clarification (and to emphasize to my followers that I did not recently suffer a blow to my head and resultant dain bramage).

On the issues, I could easily, gleefully and with not too much mental effort completely eviscerate SpeakerJohnson. He is a Christian nationalist (problem). He parroted the Kraken lady's talking points about conspiracy theories to appeal to the base (problem). He believes this nation was founded as a Christian nation (problem). He wants to ban abortion (big problem). He favors gun rights (obvious problem).

I could easily tear him to shreds. That, however, is not the point here. The point is that Republicans (for the moment and not for much longer) have the majority in the House, so they choose the Speaker. Who else would you prefer? Speaker Jim Jordon? Speaker Herns? Speaker Former Wrestling Coach? Speaker McDonald's Franchise Owner?

Who would you prefer?

I am merely mildly pleased to have a Speaker who does not need assistance to tie his own shoelaces. That is a small victory in a situation where no choice was a good choice.

'nuff said.
