I'm just thinking out loud here, with a question in my mind ...

My question is: Why? I mean why the persecution, the animosity, the legislation, the scapgoating, the unfounded smears, the fear and the hate ... Why? What harm are we to them? What threat do we pose? I ask the question in all seriousness. We propose no legislation to ban Christian churches. We propose no legislation to silence Christians and ban Christian books. We make no accusations towards them of sexual misconduct on their part being taken for granted -- well other than that of Catholic priests which can often be taken for granted (sorry, had to mention that). But really, we pose not the slightest threat to them, their lives, their health, their wellbeing or their right to their religion.

So, why?

It is a question I guess a child might ask, but I often ask the questions a child would ask, because a child's vision is the clearest and wisest in the world, since a child has not yet learned hatred, duplicity, Machiavellianism, etc., all the things that must be learned and acquired and are not innate to anyone.

I ask the child's question: why?

Rhetorical question, though. There is no "why" to prejudice. It is defined by circular logic, not grounded on facts but on beliefs. Prejudice is a "belief" and you cannot reason anyone out of a belief.

I feel exactly as you do James. What to do? I don't know either.
