If I may throw my 2 cents in, I think satire is a marvelous way to deal with all of this. Satire is the hot knife through butter, that cuts through all the overbearing rhetorical noise that defenders of the indefensible attempt to deploy.

Also, I think it takes a particularly sharp and perceptive mind to write satire well as it is the most difficult thing to pull off.
