I grew up just on the north edge of Sandy, in Murray. Sandy a nice place, with some very nice people? Yes. A place that "is not the kind of place this happens"? Horseshit, pardon my French. Yes, there always have been and still are, absolutely wonderfully nice people in Salt Lake City and the surrounding communities (including Sandy just south of Salt Lake City proper). But there are assholes, bullies, and jackasses everywhere, including Sandy and Murry. There is no place that is "the kind of place this doesn't happen." Hell, though I was never assaulted, when I would be walking home from High School, I would get fairly frequent instances of jackasses driving by who had to roll down their window and yell somethin, usually sexist and crude, often body shaming, and then speed off laughing. I took a martial arts/self defense class on the side, though, just in case...

There have always been cockroaches and always will be cockroaches. The only difference with the times we are living in right now, is there is more light shining on the cockroaches.

This was a painful story to read, but keep on shining that light on the cockroaches that are out there James.

And I do wish all the best to Christian and Jacob, and hope they do keep holding hands in public. There are still lots of good people out there, and....for me...seeing men holding hands or women holding hands in public, it always brings me a smile and brightens my day, and I know I am not the only one that feels that way.
