I get your point as well. I'm not oblivious to lives lost in the present moment. Not to mention the horrors being suffered right now by summarily deported immigrants.

On the other hand, we are not hiding in an attic to avoid being hauled to a concentration camp.

Anyway, we both understand each other's point.

However, I don't think I have really adequately conveyed what I was trying to convey as to the importance of keeping perspective. It is not "hey, it's not so bad and could be worse." It is more of "hey, don't capitulate in advance with a spiral down into despair." It's keep perspective because if people crumble in despair at what is going on now... how will anyone stand up to worse things that could be on the horizon?

I'm seeing a fair bit of despairing capitulation going on right now and that worries me cuz the battle seems over before anyone got around to fighting (using that word figuratively, of course).
