I do not feel that the US is finished. I do feel that unlike we politics junkies, there are a lot of people out there blissfully going about their lives unaware or only tangentially aware of what is going on (too busy lining up to see the Barbie movie, etc.). However, I have noticed when some things-- like a local school board book ban for example-- finally land on the general public's radar ... good, sensible, intelligent, kind-hearted people vastly outnumber the radicals and do stand up.

So, it really amounts to an information warfare ... how quickly and effectively can we get important issues to register on people's radar before it is too late.

If we can ramp up and win the information warfare, the US and this grand experiment in democracy survives and things reset and improve. If we don't ... well, then America gets what it deserves for its citizen's lack of attention to important matters.
