Fun fact: I grew up 15 minutes away from where Footloose was filmed. LOL Also fun fact, it was not so much a fictional movie as a documentary of where I lived! Well, almost. And though my dad was not a preacher, let's just say my father-daughter relationship was exactly that of Ariel and her dad--with plenty of shouting, and me being defiant just to be defiant. (I went to see the movie Footloose with my mom, ahem, and we loved it.)
Well, even though that movie was not the main point or topic here of what you wrote... it got me thinking.
"Joy" has been my guiding light and always has been. But also (maybe naively, but I don't care) I continue to have faith that even sticks-in-the-mud can be brought around.
Parties, and dances, can be held in the midst of enemy territory. So I will keep dancing. No one will stop me.
